‘Red Sea Road’ City Hall of Miami Beach, Miami Beach, FL – 1976
Red Sea Road, was a site specific, monumental outdoor sculpture commissioned for the City Hall of Miami Beach. The high-profile sculpture sited on the plaza as a welcome arch to the City Hall for over 30 years, was destroyed by Hurricane Wilma In 2005 and represented a great loss to the community. Conceptually it alluded to new beginnings, opportunities, and hope. It was an open door, a metaphor to a City Hall. Significantly, the sculpture was only complete when experienced by the public traversing Its space and being contained within Its boundaries.
